Call for Interest
 -Reminder-

CATCH is a new EU project funded by DG Research which aims to develop and promote a trusted and credible open knowledge platform targeted primarily at decision-makers in cities. The ultimate aim of the project is to encourage people to make climate-friendly behavioural travel choices.
 
The CATCH knowledge platform will help to bring local authorities closer to global mechanisms designed to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions such as soft interventions, carbon trading schemes, taxing and charging. CATCH will provide support tools for local authorities: the CATCH knowledge platform will collect best practice, provide tools to help citizens reduce GHG emissions through their transport choices, and build the knowledge platform around the needs of the CATCH Core Interest Group cities.

With the call for interest, CATCH invites cities to apply to become Core Interest Group members in the project.

As a Core Interest Group member you will be able to:

• Become recognised in urban transport carbon reduction strategy development.
• Meet experts in travel behaviour and hear real-world strategies to change your citizens' travel choices.
• Understand the links between fiscal measures provided by taxes, charges and carbon trading schemes and global climate change.
•  Benefit from visual scenario development for your city to show how "green" your city is, and how green it could look given various scenarios (eg if you introduced road pricing or increased bicycle mode share by 10%).
• Learn about global best practice in city carbon reduction schemes.
• Benefit from expert on-site visits from members of the CATCH project team.

The first interest group meeting will take place in February 2010. This meeting will concentrate on behavioural choice and the question of how people can be persuaded to switch to more climate-friendly travel modes.
